Dining Room Wallpaper: From Casual to Fine
While the dining room may be meant primarily for eating, it’s often the spot where we gather, chat, and enjoy each other’s company. A meal is just one part of the atmosphere, and how you style the dining room plays a huge role in setting the mood. Dining room decor can range from cosy and casual to lavish and grand. Likewise, the right wallpaper can create a relaxed setting or bring a sense of sophistication to wow your guests. For those with a flair for the bold, a well-chosen dining room wallpaper might even be the highlight of the evening’s conversation as guests make their way home. Here are a few examples of dining room wallpaper done to perfection.

This dining room is fabulous! This installation of the Viva Tropicana design brings a sense of glamour and excitement to the space. This Hollywood Regency style won’t just add to the conversation around the dinner table, it will make you say “Wow! Check out that wallpaper!” Like everything in this space, it is bold, rich and sophisticated.
If you’re tastes are more traditional, Courtney from @heart.and.home.crew went for something french-inspired for her 119 year old home. The Belle Fleur design in Dusty Blue brought gorgeous blooms in a gentle colourway to enhance a beautiful dining experience.
For lovers of mid-century modern design, you may gravitate toward something with geometrical that flows with the other straight and angular furniture in the space. Brandi from @the.hectic.eclectic chose the Hudson design with its subtle visual texture to add interest to her bright and simple style.
Many modern styles seek to bring natural and organic elements indoors. Here are two examples showing very similar designs in different colourways that both bring life to the room.
Some home decor enthusiasts have dining rooms that aspire to mix things up. They love different styles and look for ways to make it all work.
For example, we have interior designer Gabbi Zaccheria (@gabbizaccheria)from Wilmington, North Carolina. Her space feels a little country and mixes it with modern, and bold colors. In this photo by Andrew Sherman, she used the Shibori Star design in the Ocean colorway.
In another example of an eclectic dining room, Stephanie Watkins pairs her Gadara wallpaper with the boho compliments of a colourful ikat rug and orange drapery. It’s a space that sets the stage or a happy gathering that is sure to lift the mood.
Not every dining room needs to make a statement. Sometimes a subtle aesthetic is enough to set the tone. Jaci from @jaci.daily brilliantly matched her pendant lighting with her Marble & Copper Tile wallpaper. The geometric design adds interest to the wall doesn’t overpower the room. It’s a very easy place to be.
We’ve come across incredible dining room wallpaper styles in all sorts of varieties—bold, soft, bright, moody, and everything in between. Nearly every one of these designs has been carefully tailored to suit not only personal taste but also the room’s unique features. Wallpaper can certainly make a massive impact on its own. However, it’s essential to keep in mind factors like how much natural light the room gets. Selecting a wallpaper that complements the existing elements—be it furniture, lighting, or a chandelier—will help ensure your dining room feels cohesive and well put-together.
