If you’d like added peace of mind, consider using wallpaper behind an electric stove and not a gas one. Generally, unless your cooktop has an unusual flame pattern, wallpaper should perform well. The same applies with water – most wallpapers can handle small splashes as long as they’re wiped down with a soft cloth. If water is allowed to soak in frequently, though, it can weaken the glue and cause peeling over time. In many cases, wallpaper actually makes for an easy-to-clean surface.
